What Is Natural Search Engine Optimization?

Natural search engine optimization is also known as organic search engine optimization. What do either of those terms mean?

Well, let's use Google as an example.

When you go to Google and type in a query, the results you get are actually two sets of results. On the right hand side you'll see a column of "Ads", these are Pay Per Click Ads. The owners of those websites are paying Google to post their ads.

But on the left hand side you'll see another column of results, this is the natural or organic listing of websites. These websites are there because they've been optimized and marketed to the search engines.

What are the benefits of Natural Search Engine Optimization?

That's an easy question to answer. It's more cost effective!

The process of natural search engine optimization includes keyword research services which in turn provides the website owner with a continuous stream of new keyword phrases to market on his website.

New Keyword Phrases = New Content = New Targeted Audience

When new content is optimized for the search engines, it ranks high and brings in new targeted audience to the website. This cycle is repeated as often as possible. Some website owners add a new article every day (that's when blogs are useful), other website owners add a new article every month. As often as you possibly can, add an article geared towards a highly used, under marketed keyword phrase and you WILL succeed! How does the cost of Natural Search Engine Optimization compare to PPC?It's true that the initial costs of optimizing a website are more than the initial costs of a Pay Per Click (PPC) program. But, the long term costs are reversed. In the long run, the natural search engine optimization services will outshine the PPC services only because the PPC services can be extremely costly.

So, if two websites, exactly the same began marketing on the same day, a year later who will have paid more for Internet Marketing? And who would have benefitted more from Internet Marketing? The Natural Search Engine Optimization website or the PPC website?

Of course, the answer to this question depends on the fees of the Search Engine Optimization company as well as the services provided by each website. But, in general, I would have to say that the PPC would be more costly and the Natural Search Engine Optimization method would be more beneficial.

So, what's the downside of going the Natural Search Engine Optimization way?

Time. It takes time to get into the search engines and it takes time to get to the top of the search engines. Anywhere from 3-8 months for Google. PPC Ads can be up and running in 15 minutes!

So, my advice for small business owners is to begin the search engine optimization process as soon as possible and if you're in desperate need of business you could try the PPC for a month and see if it benefits you. In the meantime, there are other methods of marketing that may be more cost effective, but that's for another article!
